This company is working in the Ukrainian market not for the first year. Everybody thinks that the company has already developed its reputation, image; has already reached the top level, offers highly professional solutions and serious work. Its name comments itself. Nevertheless at the exhibition UkrProdMash we have met the commercial director of NPO «Metal Empire» — Alexey Vladimirovich Aleshin, and he has confirmed all our guesses by word.
— Alexey Vladimirovich, please tell us about «Metal Empire». How long is this company working in the Ukrainian market? Do you have representative offices in other cities?
— The company «Metal Empire» was founded on the basis of the Kharkiv plant «Elevatormelmash» and it is its full legal successor. We process all the technologies developed at this plant for many years. At that time in 1990 we started our work with the installation of central technology line purchased by the Soviet Union. Those days agriculture was not topical in business terms due to the total agribusiness breakdown. Nowadays we started doing agriculture as this sector is gathering pace.
Initially during the formation of infrastructure strategically were open representative offices as the product should be available at the market. Today we have a representative office in Belgorod which serves for the Russian market, a representative office in Almaty (Kazakhstan) is in the process of legal registration.
For some time we had an office in Kyiv however there is no point in that at present as transport network is well developed. We closed our representative office in Moscow in 2005. The trade name became well known, transport networks are very developed so there is no point to establish these representative offices.
As for the competition our main competitors are the Italians and we compete with them with dignity by quality indices, optional services and price indices as well.
— You have mentioned that you compete with Italian manufacturers with dignity. And I have the following question: «Why is it much profitable to cooperate with „Metal Empire“?»
— It is a philosophical question. In terms of mechanics and technics our equipment does not differ from the foreign-made one. We have our «pluses» exactly in the cooperation with our partners: first, we speak the same language with our consumers, second, terms of delivery are very important, third, optional services (we are in place all the time, we are always available). Our advantage is that it is easy to find common ground with us.
By the way, we have changed to foreign raw materials and components almost in full (Belgium, Germany, Slovenia), so we have almost the same sources of raw materials with our competitors.
— Please tell in a few words about the range of products the company «Metal Empire» offers.
— We offer almost all kinds of gear for macaroni and confectionary industry. We also work in agricultural sector, offer equipment for seed cleaning.
— What most essential problem gets in the way of full-scale business development?
— Staff, staff and again staff. Unfortunately in our country the education is only starting to rise. And those specialists that are graduating aim to put on a tie and to become a manager at once. Though a specialist must know its trade from all sides and go through all levels of «evolution».
— How do you cooperate with your partners?
— Our main principle is partnership. We do not work directly with the end customer, buying final product: cookies, macaroni, bread, sweets, etc. and at the same time we clearly understand that the final result depends on our operation as well.
— In your opinion, how will confectionery and macaroni sector develop in the future?
— In general and in brief the market is oligopolyzing at the moment. This process speeds up the energy crisis and as a result this market becomes rather low profitable. Big operators are already distinguished evidently.
